Because of the way that the (blazingly fast 128kbps) bonded ISDN line was installed at the Brooklyn apartment that I shared with Steve and Ted, we had a second phone number that we didn’t use. Inspired by They Might Be Giants’ Dial-A-Song (and early Barbara Kruger), we decided to use it for a dial-in party invitation.
